Eligibility Criteria for North Carolina Alternate Assessments

Sample Constructed Response Area for Student Marks Answers in Test Book College and Career Readiness Alternate Assessment at Grade 11 Test Administrations
Students with the Student Marks Answers in Test Book accommodation do not receive an answer sheet during testing. Therefore, in order to provide them with equitable access to the demands of the constructed response items, schools may provide these students with the sample response space during testing. This document should be printed locally and treated as secure test materials once printed for testing purposes. The document may be enlarged locally for students who require large print materials.

Teachers may also use this document before testing day as a resource to prepare students for testing. The document does not need to be considered secure under these circumstances.

1.0 Percent Justification Forms 2017–2018
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to ensure that the total number of students assessed in English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, and Science using the alternate assessment, based on alternate academic achievement standards, does not exceed 1.0 percent of the total number of all students assessed in each subject. Justification forms from each LEA/charter school which exceeded 1.0 percent participation in the alternate assessment are posted.
