TEACHERS TO RECEIVE ACHIEVEMENT BONUS (GREENVILLE DAILY REFLECTOR)

Teachers and administrators at three Pitt County schools will receive up to $2,250 in bonuses for achieving better-than-expected student achievement during the last school year.Northwest Elementary, Pactolus Elementary and Wellcome Middle schools are eligible for up to $1,500 from the state through the Race to the Top grant and $700 from the district through Title One funds.According to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, bonuses are paid to schools "for realizing higher than expected gains in student growth" in the 2011-12 school year. Bonuses of $1,500 will be paid to people who returned this year to the same school they were at last year. People who did not return will receive $750.
