WARREN COUNTY SCHOOLS SELECTED FOR COLLEGE READINESS PROGRAM

Warren County Schools is one of 11 North Carolina school districts selected to participate in GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), designed to prepare students in predominately low-income communities for education and training beyond high school. The program is made possible through a seven-year, $28.6 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to the University of North Carolina system. The funding represents the third statewide GEAR UP grant that the university system has received since the year 2000.GEAR UP North Carolina's additional partners include the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, the N.C. Community College System, N.C. Independent Colleges and Universities, the N.C. State Education Assistance Authority, the College Foundation, ACT, SAS Institute and the N.C. Business Committee for Education.
