STUDENTS VOLUNTEER HUNDREDS OF HOURS WITH COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Warren County’s high school students are setting a high standard of community service, completing 413 volunteer hours at county government offices during the 2012-13 school year alone. Angelena Kearney-Dunlap, clerk to the board of county commissioners, outlined the county’s student volunteer program at the board of education’s April 1 meeting. She said that students have volunteered at county government offices for a number of years, but the more formal county program was established about three years ago. Kearney-Dunlap told board members that students from Warren County High School, Warren Early College High School and Warren New Tech High School have been active with the program, with 30 students completing volunteer work in 2012-13.
