STARBASE PROGRAM BRING STEM EDUCATION TO LIFE
Liberty Drive Elementary fifth-graders have experienced hours of stimulating educational experiences focused around science, technology, engineering and math. Instructors with the STARBASE education program have been at the school for the past week and a half conducting experiments and leading hands-on activities that bring the state's curriculum to life for students.
"It teaches you different stuff you haven't learned in class. It's also reviewing things we already learned in class, too," said student Jennifer Arellano. "I really like it because it's fun. You get to try new things."
For nearly 20 years, Communities In Schools of Thomasville has brought the enrichment program that aims to bring awareness of technology, explore career opportunities, build self-confidence, help students set goals and develop drug-resistance skills, all while teaching them to work together cooperatively to the school.
