"GIVE FIVE-READ FIVE" CAMPAIGN A BIG SUCCESS
Books are pouring in.
It's an effort to make sure kids don't fall behind with their reading over the summer but the state’s second annual "Give Five, Read Five" program is encouraging people to donate book and kids to read.
The campaign, which was launched last year by the state Department of Public Instruction, asks parents, business leaders, teachers, and community leaders to donate new or gently used books to elementary schools.
The Pamlico County School System has pulled in more than 5,500 books this year.
