ROWAN TEACHERS RECEIVE AGRICULTURE GRANTS

Two Rowan County teachers have been awarded Ag in the Classroom “Going Local” grants from the N.C. Farm Bureau. Pauline Ross of Landis Elementary and Hillary Shores of Sacred Heart Catholic School received the grants, which are for agricultural outreach.

“There is no more valuable resource in North Carolina than our students and the teachers charged with their education,” said Larry Wooten, president of N.C. Farm Bureau. “Through this program, our state’s farmers are investing in the future generations that will lead North Carolina, as well as the future of agriculture — the top industry in the state.”

The grants are valued at up to $500 each and help teachers provide their students with real-world education and experiences about the agricultural industry while adhering to the school system’s common core and essential standards. County farm bureaus provide information regarding the grants and curriculum to teachers throughout North Carolina.
