KIPP: Charlotte

Kennedy School
Kennedy Charter Public School provides a safe, dynamic, and positive learning environment for students 6-12 at risk of failure in traditional school settings. Academic and behavioral goals are clearly defined for each student within a constructive, highly structured, learning environment that is conducive to student achievement. Student assistance & guidance counseling services are available to all students. College preparation and career planning are vital components. Over 50% of students live in group homes, foster homes or non-custodial parent situations. Students often are drop outs, or two to three grade levels behind upon entrance.

Kestrel Heights
Kestrel Heights School, founded in 1998 as a public charter school, serves students in grades 6-12 in the greater Durham area. Lake Lure Classical Academy
Lake Lure Classical Academy, LLCA, is a public charter school opening in the fall of 2010. LLCA will open offering a college-preparatory education to students in grades K-7. LLCA will add a grade level each year becoming a K-12 school in the fall of 2015. LLCA will be utilizing the Core Knowledge Program in our Elementary and Middle grades then transition to a Classical Curriculum as we expand into High School. Learning Center
The Learning Center is a K-7th, expanding to 8th, school that is known for its innovative methods of teaching and promoting creative programs and approaches to learning. The multi-learning style approach to education uses the Four Blocks method for language arts, Houghton Mifflin math, and across-the-curriculum science, technology and social studies programs. Both Reading and Math Intervention Programs are offered during the school day and through after school programs. Our nationally recognized nutrition program offers many extras such as Small Bites, Super Snack and Garden-Based Learning.
