HONORS COURSE IMPLEMENTATION GUIDE
At its November 2004 meeting, the State Board of Education approved standards for developing and implementing honors courses in our state. The Honors Course Implementation Guide highlights the standards in curriculum, instruction, and assessment and are designed to provide a consistent framework to guide teachers and principals as they develop and evaluate local courses that are aligned to the state-adopted standards.
The material in this document should be used as a starting point or springboard for individual teachers or district level honors course development and implementation. The state-adopted standards provide the framework and allow for local development within this framework. The appendix includes frequently asked questions about honors course development and implementation.
