Materials used to provide Responsiveness to Instruction Foundations training effective July 1, 2008 through December 2011 are available for school personnel to use for awareness training and for training on key concepts.
PLEASE NOTE: Training materials currently available were developed for the RtI four-tier model. As training is developed for NC RtI three-tier model, these materials will be replaced and noted by development date.

North Carolina Responsiveness to Instruction: State Update
Collaborative Conference for Student Achievement, March 2012
This session provided information about North Carolina’s direction for the statewide scaling-up of Responsiveness to Instruction (RtI). Discussion focused on the support structure for district-level implementation and transitioning to a three-tier model. Meeting all students’ needs within this tiered system of support was also discussed.
Sandhills Leadership Academy Presentation, March 7, 2012
Three regional RtI field consultants were given the opportunity to provide a brief overview of Responsiveness to Instruction for the first cohort of aspiring principals from the Sandhills Leadership Academy. The presentation focused on the implementation of a problem-solving model for total school improvement. These rising leaders will be fully licensed principals in the 2012-2013 school year and available to work in the Sandhills region of the state. The discussion around RtI as a key initiative in school turnaround was lively and engaging.
2011-2012 RtI Regional Networking Meetings
Regional RtI field consultants conduct bi-monthly regional networking meetings around topic areas requested by participants. In addition to short professional development sessions, each networking meeting provides participants time to dialogue with neighboring school and district staff in order to build a professional community around Responsiveness to Instruction implementation. Each meeting also provides participants with updates regarding Responsiveness to Instruction in North Carolina from the NC Department of Public Instruction.

Frameworks for Response to Intervention in Early Childhood: Description and Implications
Three national organizations (the Division for Early Childhood/DEC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children/NAEYC, and the National Head Start Association/NHSA) have created a joint paper to promote a broader understanding and provide guidance on the relationship of Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks to the unique contexts of early childhood (EC) programs.
