Why become part of the NCIH?

It provides a scheduler for easy session connections.
It provides a way to participate in multipoint (3 or more sites) video conferences.
It provides a way to connect with resources that use other broadcast modes.
It provides a 24/7 help desk.
As long as the funding holds out, the Legislature, through NCDPI, may pay connection charges for K-12 public schools.
It provides a way to live-stream a video conference over the Internet ($77/hr).
It provides a way to archive a video stream for later access ($44/mo/1GB--about 5 hrs video).

Service Charges:

As long as funding is available, the Department of Public Instruction will fund NCIH/NCVNS service charges for videoconferencing in K-12 public schools. A step-by-step process is outlined on the NCIH website.

Scheduling

The NCIH/NCVNS network uses an online scheduler for connections among members of the network. If, for example, your class will connect point-to-point with a museum in another state, it is not necessary to schedule this connection through the online scheduler.
