Presenting
the 2007 Melinda Awards for Young Adult Literature . . .
Caldecott, Newbery and Printz. Printz???
Part
of the challenge for Young Adult Literature fans is getting the word
out that the American Library Association has an award for excellence
in Young
Adult Literature.
It’s the Printz Award named in honor of beloved Topeka, Kansas
school librarian, Michael L. Printz.
The
real challenge though is to recognize the most excellent books written
for young adults each year. The outstanding teen readers
from the Mock Printz Clubs of Middle
Creek High School and the Eva Perry Public Library take this challenge
seriously and have worked hard all year to be able to make their recommendations.
These clubs and the teachers from the graduate Young Adult Literature
Class at NC State University invite you to join them to hear their
top picks from all of the books published in 2006..
This will be a Web event streamed live on Monday, Feb.
26 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. All you need is the
free RealPlayer to participate. You can join the discussion
through our Instant
Message Board.
