INVESTING IN INNOVATION FUND (i3)
National Fund Total: $650 million
Funding is competitive grant driven
Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) competitive grants are targeted toward districts and charter schools to expand the implementation of, and investment in, innovative and evidence-based practices, programs and strategies that significantly:
- Improve K-12 achievement and close achievement gaps;
- Decrease dropout rates;
- Increase high school graduation rates; and
- Improve teacher and school leader effectiveness.
Local districts and charter schools can use their share of the SFSF for any activity authorized under the following federal programs: Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (Adult Education Act) and Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins Act).
