Safe and Healthy Schools Support (SHSS)
The mission of the Safe and Healthy Schools Support Division is to assist clients in achieving educational goals, safe environment, economy of operation; and to meet statutory requirements by providing leadership, strategic direction, professional consultation, technical assistance and other services as needed. Includes School Nutrition Services, Driver Education Programs, School Insurance, Plant Operation, School Planning, Textbook Services, and Transportation Services.

District Human Resources
Provides consultative services to the 115 local school districts in North Carolina. These services include advice and guidance regarding the State Board of Education policies governing benefits and employment for the local school district employees. This department also handles the integration of EVAAS, the State's student growth model, into the NC Educator Effectiveness System. District Human Resources can also assist districts with developing a comprehensive talent management system that includes: equitable distribution of effective teachers in the district, recruiting and retention strategies, and data analysis.

E-Rate for NC Schools
The E-Rate program was set up in 1997 when the Federal Communications Commission adopted a Universal Service Order implementing the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The Order was designed to ensure that all eligible schools and libraries have affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services.

Every Student Suceeds Act (ESSA) / No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
Key elements as they are implemented in North Carolina including methods of measuring students’ academic progress, standards for teachers, and ramifications for Title I schools.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and the North Carolina funds dedicated to education.



Office of State Budget and Management
The North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM) is tasked with delivering the highest quality statewide budgetary, management and information services to advise the Governor, state agencies and legislature on the most effective use of public resources.

NC General Assembly
Track bills, find and communicate with NC House and Senate members, and follow chamber activity, meetings and issues before the General Assembly.

NC Education Lottery
The net proceeds of the North Carolina Education Lottery will go to education expenses, including reduced class size in early grades, academic prekindergarten programs, school construction, and scholarships for needy college and university students.

Statewide E-Procurement Project
A tool to manage purchasing efficiently and effectively.

Local and State Government Records
NC State Archives - the Government Records Section provides and administers records management services to state government agencies, local government agencies, and state-supported institutions of higher education in North Carolina in accordance with General Statutes 121 and 132 and the mandate provided in these laws for the preservation of the historical record of this state.

NCASBO is an association comprised of dedicated personnel in all phases of responsibilities of the financial operations in the public schools across North Carolina.
