BENNETT NAMED DIRECTORY OF SCHOOL BUSINESS SERVICES AT DPI
Jennifer Bennett, a six-year employee with the Department of Public Instruction, has been named Director of the Division of School Business Services in the Department of Public Instruction. The appointment was approved today by the State Board of Education and is effective immediately.
Bennett joined DPI in 1994 as a General Ledger Accountant. She was promoted to Section Chief of the Reporting and Auditing Section of the Division of School Business in 1998. She was recommended to the State Board for the Director's position by State Superintendent Mike Ward and Associate Superintendent for Financial and Business Services Hank Hurd. She replaces Philip Price who left DPI to join the staff of the General Assembly.
Following the appointment Ward said that he looks forward to working with Bennett in this new role. "We are always pleased when we can reward talented employees with a new challenge. After six years with the Division of School Business Services, Jennifer Bennett is well qualified for this new role. She is committed to working with local school systems to make the most effective and efficient use of their funds and we welcome her leadership."
The Division of School Business Services works with local school systems in making the best use of their funds. The Division includes five sections that are responsible for school finance, reporting and auditing, federal program funds, salary administration and statistical research.
Since 1985, Bennett has been employed in accounting positions with several companies. She has a bachelor's degree in finance from Pennsylvania State University. She lives in Wake Forest.
