Effective with the 2010-2011 school year, Superintendents and Instructional Central Office Administrators may be evaluated annually using the North
Carolina Superintendent Evaluation Process (see SBE Policy Highlights, Sept 2010). The intended purpose of the North Carolina Superintendent
Evaluation Process is to assess superintendents in relation to research-based strategies that have been proven to be effective. For purposes of the
policy, central office staff includes Deputy, Assistant, and Associate Superintendents as well as all other instructional staff members with a rank of
Director or above. The process is outlined below. The new evaluation training is offered in each region by the Race to the Top Professional
Development Leaders.
