With the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), significant changes have been made to the provisions for equitable services for private schools under Title I and Title VIII of the law. However, one of the key provisions that continues to be included is that an LEA, shall, after timely and meaningful consultation with appropriate private school officials, provide eligible private school children, on an equitable basis, services that address their academic needs as well as provide support services for the teachers and other educational staff and families of the participating children. Additional information regarding consultation requirements for equitable services may be found in the resources here.

NC Directory of Private Schools as of March 2018 – LEAs are to invite private schools in this list to consult on equitable services that may be offered during the 2018-19 school year.
