Parent Overview of New Standards Now Online
The NCDPI has published "English Language Arts and Mathematics in North Carolina Public Schools: An Overview for Parents." Application Period for Governor's Teacher Network Extended to April 30
The deadline for application to the Governor's Teacher Network (GTN) has been extended to April 30. The GTN will provide a statewide platform for teachers to share their best work around instruction and professional development. Through the GTN, approximately 450 teachers from across North Carolina will be selected to serve for one year as instructional and professional development experts and facilitators. New Tables Added to the Consolidated Data Report for 2012-13
Several new tables have been added to the Consolidated Data Report for 2012-13. The new tables include:

  • Grades 7-13 Dropout Counts by LEA, Sex and Race
  • Grades 7-13 Dropout Counts and Rates

To view the new tables, please visit The Consolidated Data Report is an annual report that includes data for school crime and violence, suspensions and expulsions, use of corporal punishment, and dropout rates.

Registration Instructions and Training for Student UID on the Web
School district personnel assigned program and user roles to the NC Student Identification System (Student UID) can find registration instructions and training materials on the CEDARS website at Every student who participates in the North Carolina public school system is assigned a UID through PowerSchool. The UID enables reliable matching of student-level data across the NCDPI information systems.
