Web Highlights Begins Summer Schedule in June
Web Highlights begins its monthly publication schedule next month. Look for your first summer issue to arrive on June 20. Our regular schedule resumes again in September.


Lead List Provides Local Contacts to Help with Home Base Questions
Each charter school and school district has identified a lead person to help with questions around the key components of Home Base. Some use one person for all components; others have a different contact for each area: PowerSchool, SchoolNet, NC Educator Evaluation System. Resource Center for NBC Features New and Updated Material
The Candidate Resource Center page for the National Board Certification website has been updated recently with new brochures, presentations, candidate deadlines and more. Handbooks for 21st CCLC Standards/Procedures, Fiscal Guidance on the Web
New documents have been added to the Resources page for the 21st Community Learning Centers website:

  • Standards and Procedures Handbook - Assists local organizations in planning and implementing high-quality 21st CCLC programs. The handbook addresses issues and considerations beyond federal and state requirements to ensure that afterschool programs support student learning and development. High School Report for 2013 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Now Online
In the spring of every odd-numbered year, NC Healthy Schools implements a statewide Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). The NC YRBS helps assess behaviors in youth that impact their health now and in the future. Topics include violence, personal safety, physical activity, nutrition, mental health, and more. Summer Tuition Awards Available for Special Education Teachers
Limited summer tuition awards are available for special education teachers working toward meeting provisional license requirements. Under this tuition program, employed bachelor-level special education teachers with a provisional license may receive the actual cost of tuition for one approved summer course up to $140 per semester hour with a final grade of a "B" or higher. These costs are paid by the Exceptional Children division on a reimbursement basis. If the tuition is above $140 per semester hour, it will be the responsibility of the recipient to pay the difference. These awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis while federal grant funds are available.
