MESSAGES 2014 :: AUGUST 5, 2014

Important information for Schoolnet users

To: Users of the Home Base Instructional Improvement System (Schoolnet)

The NC Department of Public Instruction has communicated through multiple channels that we would be upgrading the production environment of Home Base's Instructional Improvement System (Schoolnet) from version 15.4 to version 16.0 during this upcoming weekend, beginning Aug. 8. Pearson mistakenly performed this upgrade to the North Carolina production Schoolnet environment last night, several days ahead of schedule. The NCDPI and Pearson found issues this morning related to instructional content not showing up, test items not being visible and standardized tests not being visible. These issues have impacted training activities that are occurring today with our LEAs and charter schools. Pearson is aware of these issues and is working diligently to correct the problems as early as possible today and hopes to have all issues resolved before noon. We apologize for the inconvenience associated with this early upgrade, and both NCDPI and Pearson are working together to implement operational change controls to ensure that this does not happen again.

The good news is that the Instructional Improvement System (Schoolnet) will be available for use this weekend instead of being down for the upgrade. We will send out a separate communication shortly documenting the new features in Schoolnet version 16.0. Thank you for your continued support as we work to improve the Home Base components.
