Please see the below message from State Superintendent Atkinson regarding the EVASS briefing on Nov. 6. Dear Superintendents: At the request of some of you, we are holding an Educator Value-Added Assessment System (EVAAS) briefing on November 6, 2014, 1:30-3:00 p.m., on the SAS Campus – 100 SAS Campus Drive, Cary, NC. You must RSVP by November 4 at 5 p.m. in order to be cleared by SAS security. Once you have RSVP'd, we will provide you with the exact location of the event as well as check-in procedures with security at the front gate of the SAS complex. SAS personnel will join the briefing to provide an overview of EVAAS as the state growth model. The following items will be discussed:

  1. How EVAAS became the state model for measuring student growth,
  2. How EVAAS measures student growth and teacher effectiveness, and
  3. What are the implications for districts, schools, and educators?

If you are unable to attend this briefing, we are scheduling EVAAS briefings in each of the eight regions where your staff members in Accountability and Testing, and Teacher Effectiveness can also attend.

RSVP to Thomas Tomberlin at by 5:00 p.m. on November 4. Sincerely, June St. Clair Atkinson
