Schoolnet Maintenance Tonight

he Pearson technical team will add additional monitoring to the Schoolnet database, and will need to briefly take Schoolnet off line for set up this evening from 8:00pm -10:00pm.

The NCDPI and Pearson teams will also continue to identify specific optimizations to implement in preparation for the benchmarking assessments to be conducted in December and January. These optimizations are intended to distribute and balance the load on the Schoolnet system.

There will be up to 90 additional optimizations that may be applied to improve the Schoolnet experience. In order to apply those enhancements, we may require the use of maintenance windows over the next two weeks in the 6:00pm – 10:00pm timeframe on some Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We will work to schedule these as late in the maintenance window as possible in order to minimize service disruption and will distribute advance notifications of when the implementations will occur.

In addition to the optimizations, Pearson will create a separate database instance to serve the assessment administration activities and a separate read-only database instance to serve some of the reporting activities. This change will off-load a great deal of the load from the core Schoolnet SQL Server database, which in turn, should result in less database locking and contention errors when the system is under load.
