There is never a perfect time for maintenance work since that often suspends the availability of key services for some period of time. That is why we shared the following proposed 2015-16 Home Base maintenance weekend calendar dates with you last week.

We have not yet submitted these dates to the Configuration Control Board for final approval. Please let us know if these dates will conflict with key business deadlines for your schools and you. In particular, we would like to avoid deadlines for report card grades, interim reports and other major work streams as much as possible. It is our hope to avoid major conflicts and to provide ample maintenance weekends to take care of the software properly. These maintenance times are needed to install updates for state reporting and any fixes. Because we are winding down with implementation, it is possible that some of these maintenance weekends may not be needed.

Canvas Learning Management System

NCDPI staff recently signed a statewide contract to provide statewide pricing of Canvas learning management system to all LEAs and charter schools across the state. Administration and staff from several North Carolina districts contributed to the evaluation process, which resulted in a contract that includes implementation, training, course migration, and 24/7 support to any school or district that purchases Canvas. And since its important systems work together, the contract also promises that Canvas integrates with NC IAM, with NCLOR, and with PowerSchool. Canvas will demonstrate the product during a series of webinars. Visit and scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up for a demo.
